Does anyone know settings for using serial usb adapters to load captive works 600? I am using the appropriate cable as well as usb to serial adapter.

I've tried two different ones with multiple settings for comm port. Nothing works. I'm using the loader CW f2atv_com v1.05.EXE.

Did you install the drivers for your usb cable?

Howdy Wil !

Yes you can load with a USB to serial BUT... there is only one way. Turn the box on and let it come on and boot up completely. Then turn it off on front or with the remote. You will see --:-- on front. This is " standby mode ". This is the ONLY way you can load the Captiveworks 600 with a USB to Serial adaptor. I have the new V1.07 loader but I think you can use either one.You will have to figure out what port your device is assigned in Device Manager and set the port on the loader EVERY time you load.

I will certainly give this a try, I usually loaded in boot mode when using normal cable with serial port. thanks

ar you running vista if so for some reason you have to change port to 4 or 3

I gave this a try and it worked fine. It is slower than using a normal comm port but it still works, I used the V1.05 loader as well. I also used the programming cable between serial adapter and machine. Thanks for the great advice.

Happy to help. For a long time it was beleived you couldn't load the 600 with a USB to Serial. I forgot to mention it takes longer. I actually posted this a long time ago.
